Oktoberfest is the biggest beer festival in the world and people across the globe have fallen in love with this slice of German culture, flocking to beer halls clad in lederhosen and dirndls and ready to drink some steins.
Every year Oktoberfest in Australia seems to get bigger. This year will see the Royal Oktoberfest event hitting Sydney for the first time following a successful Melbourne event last year held at the Royal Exhibition Building.
The event promises over 50 imported German beers. The list of participating breweries includes well-regarded German brewers like Weltenburger and Schlenkerla, best known for their smoky Rauchbier style of beer, as well as 5 of the 6 official Oktoberfest brewers including the likes of Löwenbrau and Paulaner.
For those who are yearning for a big beer event after GABS and who like a good schnitty or bretzel with some German beer to wash it down, it’s time to start shopping for your lederhosen.
